London Aquarium
Having opened in April 2009 under the name Sea Life Centre London Aquarium, the London Aquarium attracts over a million visitors each year. The aquarium has roughly 500 species and is involved in many conservation campaigns and breeding programmes.
Now located in the London Borough of Lambeth, the aquarium is situated amongst many other tourist attractions.
The London Aquarium is perfectly located on the banks of the river Thames, right in the centre of London. So as well as a lovely day out to an extensive aquarium you can also take in the iconic London sights including, the London Eye and the Palace of Westminster. The aquarium itself is an amazing experience for both young and old, I visited with a group of elderly ladies, some in wheelchairs. The aquarium is great for wheelchair access! The sensory elements with the lights and movements were great for dementia, and the ladies enjoyed listening to the educational materials. The written materials displayed on the wall could really have been better lit to help those whose eyesight isn’t that great! Overall we enjoyed our day thoroughly.
